The worst WWE storylines of 2026: Morgan, Danhausen and Deadspin’s picks

Danhausen’s shifting rivalries

Danhausen has feuded with The Miz, Kit Wilson, Dominik Mysterio and Gunther this year. His SummerSlam “Human Monies on a Pole” match with Mysterio received a mixed response, and the story says his current SmackDown interaction with Gunther has left creative questioning the direction.

The story criticizes Danhausen’s increasingly outlandish curses and his placement against a face-painted vampire. It also says TKO supports him, while suggesting his routine is wearing thin.

Paige and the Bella Twins

Paige returned to take Nikki Bella’s place at WM after Nikki was injured, then won the tag titles with Brie Bella. The account says that title run left the division with little room to breathe.

After the Bellas turned on Paige following a SummerSlam loss, Brie was injured, stalling the reunion and its tag title run. The subsequent focus on Paige and Nikki trading insults about past relationships, alongside sub-par matches, is described as a poor fit for the wrestlers.

Questions around Morgan’s reign

The result, in this account, is another turbulent Liv Morgan reign. It predicts Stratton may take Green’s title with the Prettiest Moon Sault Ever, while noting online speculation that she could fail her cash-in because WWE has advertised a 100% success rate.

A feud fans want ended

JD McDonaugh defeated Joe Hendry with a headbutt in a rivalry centered on the size of McDonaugh’s head and Funko Pops. The account says fans want the storyline to end, despite the possibility that WWE officials backstage found it amusing.
