Legendary Cartoon Network Mech Anime Officially Returns With New Release
A hard-to-find series returns
Discotek Media confirmed The Big O: The Complete Paradigm Blu-ray box set, which is available to purchase through mediaOCD’s store page. It includes both seasons, with the original Japanese audio and English subtitles alongside the English dub.
The anime aired first on Toonami and later on Adult Swim. In recent years, it had limited streaming availability and few physical-media options; the article says Prime Video offered it in only a small number of countries, while incomplete English-dub versions appeared on YouTube.
Mysteries in Paradigm City
The story takes place 40 years after an event brought Earth to the brink of destruction and erased Paradigm City’s memories of the past. Residents work to rebuild society with the technology and history they still have.
Roger Smith, known as the city’s top negotiator, takes a wealthy man’s request to find his kidnapped daughter. The girl he rescues is an android named Dorothy, and Roger pilots the Megadeus Big O as they investigate the lost memories.
A new edition for fans
The series runs for 26 episodes and combines mecha action with a mystery set in a city shaped by amnesia. The article describes its animation and English dub, starring Steve Blum, as strengths that have helped it endure.
Discotek said it reviewed existing masters for the release. Season two includes 5.1 audio for the English dub, and the company promises a clean visual presentation of the original series.
