Deadspin Week 7 injury roundup: Vikings’ Aaron Jones aggravates knee problem

Jones’ knee injury flares up

Aaron Jones aggravated his left knee during the Vikings’ 16-10 home victory over the Colts. After a hit at the end of a 17-yard run, he went directly to the medical tent for evaluation.

Coach Kevin O’Connell said Jones had his knee checked, and Pro Football Talk reported he was scheduled for an MRI on Monday. Jones sprained his left MCL in Week 2 against Chicago but has not missed a game; on Sunday, he had eight carries for 26 yards.

Minnesota also welcomed back running back Jordan Mason, who had been sidelined since Week 1 with a thumb injury. Mason led the Vikings with 68 rushing yards on 15 carries.

Moton carted off in Carolina

Panthers right tackle Taylor Moton suffered a fractured left fibula during Carolina’s 43-13 home loss to Tampa Bay. He was carted off after teammate Rasheed Walker fell across the back of his legs early in the third quarter.

Coach Dave Canales said Moton would be “out for a while.” Canales told reporters the fibula was fractured, but said the team needed further evaluation before providing the full extent of the injury. The injury came in Moton’s second game back after a serious blood clot issue.

Waddle exits Denver victory

Broncos receiver Jaylen Waddle left Denver’s 30-16 road win over Arizona with a chest injury and did not return. The injury came on a reverse with less than five minutes remaining, after Waddle fumbled Bo Nix’s pitch and dove for the ball as Josh Sweat landed on him.

Waddle caught four passes for 48 yards. He had been limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday with a chest injury, then practiced fully Friday and had no injury designation.

Giants and Texans report concerns

Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. left their 27-21 overtime win in Houston with a hamstring injury. Cam Skattebo said he felt something in his hamstring after a 42-yard overtime run set up Devin Singletary’s 30-yard winning touchdown.

Skattebo rushed for a career-high 124 yards, and New York gained 188 yards on the ground. The Giants have a Week 8 bye to rest and recover.
