Mortal Kombat Game Officially Releasing in 2027? A Funded Tabletop Project Arrives First

Campaign Surpasses Its Goal

Cryptozoic Entertainment is seeking support on Kickstarter for Fight!: Mortal Kombat 1 - Deck-Building Game. Although the fundraising period is still open, the campaign has already collected more than $220,000 against a goal of about $60,000.

The campaign remains available to backers who want to receive a copy. The listed standard offering includes the game for those who pledge enough, though the article does not specify its contents.

A Tabletop Take On Combat

The game joins the Cerberus deck-building-game family and features characters from Mortal Kombat 1. Players choose a Kombatant, build decks around their strategy and use combo abilities, according to the campaign description.

The design uses a new Fight! Engine, intended for two-player play and adapted for larger groups. Players can pursue different strategies, counter opponents and use Fatalities after defeating them.

Sessions And Planned Expansions

The game is aimed at two to four players, with a typical run taking around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the group size. The campaign description says a one-on-one match can take 30 minutes or less. Three expansions are planned for later release, bringing additional characters and cards.

Next Video Game In Development

The tabletop project arrives as fans wait for more details about the next Mortal Kombat video game. The article says the next game is in development, following a teaser from Ed Boon.

No release date for that video game is provided. The 2027 date in the headline is not supported by details in the article.
