After memoir release, estranged son Collin gets support from his “real” mom as Kate Gosselin disputes allegations

Conrad praises Collin’s memoir

Conrad shared a post on Instagram Saturday celebrating Collin’s memoir and his achievement as a bestselling author. She said she was proud of him and recalled wanting him to feel safe, loved and supported when he came into her life.

Conrad said listening to the book brought back joyful memories as well as painful ones. She also described periods of change in her own life, including breast cancer and the end of her relationship with Jon, and said she and Collin helped each other through difficult times. She said she would always be Collin’s mom, adding that she loved him and wished him happiness and success.

Collin responds with gratitude

In the comments, Collin thanked Conrad for listening to him, being there for him and continuing to believe in him. He said he was grateful to have her in his life.

Collin described Conrad as kind and loving, and said she loved in the way a real mother should. He added that having a mother believe in him gave him more faith in himself.

Memoir allegations denied

In “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood,” Collin, now 22, recounts alleged harsh living conditions before he was sent to a behavioral facility as a pre-teen. He alleges Kate locked him in a small holding cell for two years, isolated from his seven siblings.

Kate has denied Collin’s claims and attributed them to mental illness. Jon has stood by his son and threatened legal action against Kate.
