282-HP Overboost Gives 2027 Mercedes-Benz C350 More Power as It Leaves 27 C300 Behind

Two C-Class Models Diverge

The 2027 C300 carries over largely unchanged from the 2026 model, while the C350 gets a broader set of updates. Mercedes plans to sell both for a limited period, then end C300 production in early 2027.

The C350 uses an M254 EVO engine, compared with the C300’s M254. Both are 2.0-liter four-cylinders rated at 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque; the EVO displaces 1999 cubic centimeters, versus 1991 cc for the M254.

Engine Adds Brief Overboost

Mercedes estimates a 5.8-second run to 60 mph. The article’s writer expects 5.1 seconds, comparing that prediction with a recorded 5.3-second time for a 2022 C300 4Matic. In Comfort mode, the nine-speed transmission can make the extra response less apparent; Sport mode makes the engine feel more eager.

Suspension And Steering Feel

The test car had Pirelli P Zero PZ4 summer tires. Comfort allowed some body float, while Sport kept the chassis more controlled. Because the drive took place on smooth German roads, the writer said a U.S. road test would be needed to assess how it handles potholes and rough pavement.

Rear-wheel steering, new to the C-class in Europe, was fitted to the test car but will not be offered in America. The steering responded accurately, though the writer found its feedback limited, particularly in Comfort mode.

Cabin Technology And Price

The updated cabin replaces capacitive steering-wheel controls with roller and rocker switches for volume and cruise control. A newer Mercedes-Benz Operating System enables an AI-based virtual assistant, over-the-air updates, conversational audio and navigation recommendations, and an optional augmented-reality head-up display from the S-class.

Other available features include ambient lighting with 64 colors arranged in 10 “color worlds” and a Burmester system with 15 speakers and Dolby Atmos support. The article estimates a $53,000 starting price for the C350, compared with the C300’s $51,500 base price; Mercedes has not announced the C350 price. It also notes a $2,000 premium for 4Matic all-wheel drive.
