Ukraine: Kyiv launches massive 1,000-drone attack, sets oil sites ablaze as strikes continue
Drone attack hits Russian oil terminal
Ukraine sent more than 1,000 drones toward Russia, and an oil terminal in St Petersburg caught fire. The attacks followed the United States’ resumption of intelligence-sharing with Kyiv.
Russia also carried out strikes against Ukraine’s energy, oil and gas sectors. The report says Russian attacks took place at least 76 times over the previous 24 hours.
Deadly overnight strike on Kyiv
A Russian air strike killed a woman in Kyiv overnight, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram on Monday. The attack also hit a subway station on the capital’s left bank and damaged a 25-storey residential building.
Washington and Kyiv tensions
Zelensky said the United States had resumed sharing intelligence that helps Ukraine defend against Russian missile strikes. He thanked the administration for restoring access, while alleging that restrictions on Starlink had been intended to send Kyiv a “message,” according to the report.
Trump accused Zelensky of not wanting to end the war. He said he had waived some sanctions on Russia to avoid pushing Moscow away from peace negotiations.
Diplomatic efforts remain uncertain
The report also cites the Wall Street Journal on a proposed summit next month involving Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping. It says Putin raised the idea in a telephone call with Trump on 9 October, but the account does not establish that a summit has been agreed.
