Set for 2027, Saudi Arabia postpones major investment conference as Iran fallout expands
Conference moved to next year
Princess Maha Bint Mishari Al Saud announced on Monday that the Future Investment Initiative would not take place on its planned October 26–29 dates. The gathering is now postponed until next year.
In a statement, Princess Maha said organizers wanted the landmark tenth edition to deliver the scale and quality expected by partners, speakers and delegates. She said new dates for 2027 would be announced soon.
Security concerns in focus
The postponement follows an attack by Iran-backed Houthi rebels on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. The Associated Press reported that at least 13 people were killed. CNBC reported before the announcement that some delegates were prepared to arrive in Bahrain and make an approximately five-hour drive to Riyadh.
A prominent business gathering
Launched in 2017, the conference has grown into a major event for business leaders. Its planned speakers included Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and BlackRock CEO Larry Fink.
