After allegations, Kimberly Guilfoyle pleaded with Hegseth and Rupert Murdoch to save her job, report says

Appeals as reports emerged

Guilfoyle contacted Hegseth and Barrack for moral support and urged them to appeal to President Donald Trump on her behalf, The Daily Mail reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter. Trump did not respond to her calls, according to that report.

She also contacted Rupert Murdoch, asking him to take down Wall Street Journal articles about her. Murdoch, chairman emeritus of the Journal’s parent company, News Corp, declined, the report said.

Questions raised by coverage

A third Journal report alleged that Guilfoyle had boasted about ties to two Greek tycoons and said they financed her high-end trips. The Journal had also reported that she sought to stop a Daily Mail article about a $1,769 dinner and Champagne bill; she did not provide a receipt when officials asked whether she could show it had been paid.

Resignation and response

The White House said Trump had asked Guilfoyle to resign, and she left her post on October 13. Press Secretary Katie Zacharia said Guilfoyle had been a “wonderful asset to the team” and wished her well. Zacharia was fired three days later.

Guilfoyle called the allegations false and said she intended to defend her name, reputation and integrity. She also said her gratitude and respect for Trump and Secretary Rubio remained unwavering. Trump said, “She went to Greece, she was doing a good job, but we didn’t like what we were reading.”
