Leadership and life: England captain Harry Brook says he learned from off-field issues

Brook reflects on leadership
Brook said he had gained experience as both a captain and a person after what he described as an unsuitable situation. He also said he welcomes the added responsibility and pressure that come with leading England.
The batter wants to be a dependable figure for the team and its supporters. He acknowledged that some innings had not gone as he hoped, but said he felt he had moved beyond that period.
Results improve in white-ball cricket
England have risen to sixth in the one-day international rankings and sit first in the T20 rankings. Brook has overseen a revival in both limited-overs teams while producing strong form in those formats.
In Test cricket, Brook averages 53.08, the highest figure for an England player in almost 60 years, and has scored 10 centuries. He has not added a Test hundred since, including during last winter’s Ashes, and his aggressive approach has drawn criticism.
Pakistan series begins Tuesday
England face Pakistan in Rawalpindi at 09:00 BST on Tuesday in their opening match of a tri-series also featuring Sri Lanka. Pakistan began the competition with a win over Sri Lanka on Sunday.
Jos Buttler is unavailable because of injury, while Jofra Archer has been rested. England have not announced their lineup in advance and plan to name it at the toss.
