Lewis fishing boat tragedy: police name crew as two men remain missing

Fisherman identified after recovery
Murdo Morrison, 23, and Norman Murray remain missing. The boat and the two men had not been found when the search resumed on Thursday.

Search continues off Lewis
Police Scotland said the fishermen were believed to have sailed from Brevaig at about 07:30 on Tuesday, then travelled to fish near Port of Ness. The search was suspended on Wednesday night and restarted the following day.
Extensive searches took place on Wednesday despite gale-force winds. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said search and rescue resources included helicopters and aircraft, coastguard teams, lifeboats and a nearby vessel.
Families and community supported
Police said specialist support was being provided to the families and asked that their privacy be respected. The force also asked anyone with potentially useful information to call 101, quoting reference 3575 of 13 October.
Kenneth Macleod, convener of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, described it as a “very dark day” for Ness and Lewis. He said he could not comprehend what the fishermen’s families were going through.
