The home of Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar has been searched by federal agents as part of a criminal investigation, according to a report.

The raid comes as Omar, the first Somali American elected to Congress, has drawn President Donald Trump’s ire for years and called for her to be investigated.

“Today in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice. This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” a Justice Department spokesperson told The Independent.

The president has routinely used derogatory and inflammatory language to describe Omar and the Somali population in Minnesota. After she was elected seven years ago, Trump said she should “go back” to her home country.

“I always held on to that sense of home and welcome and generosity that I knew existed within the American people,” Omar added. “When he even said I should go back to where I came from, I went home to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and my neighbors showed up at the airport to welcome me.”

Trump was last week accused of inciting a call to violence against the Somali community in Minnesota.

“The once Great State of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali Immigrants. There is Violence, Murder, and Mayhem all over the State. The people of Minnesota must fight back,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Thursday.
