George and Amal Clooney first appeared together on the red carpet in September 2014, wearing coordinated black at a gala in Florence, Italy.

At their first Met Gala the following year, Amal wore a custom red strapless gown by Margiela and John Galliano. George paired a black jacket with a white shirt and bow tie, adding a pocket square to match her dress.

Later in 2015, the couple took a more casual approach at an event for George’s Casamigos tequila brand. He wore a white shirt, light jeans, brown boots and a metallic watch.

They returned to coordinated black for a Berlin film festival in 2016. Amal’s sleeveless, sequined dress featured a floor-length sheer tulle layer; at Cannes that year, both wore formal evening clothes.

In 2017, they appeared at a French awards ceremony in black-and-white outfits. George wore a tuxedo and bow tie, while their coordinated looks continued a series of memorable public appearances.
