Meta says its massive new AI model has caught up to frontier labs like OpenAI and Anthropic

Meta has released a new family of AI models called Muse Wonder. The company says the models have caught up with systems from OpenAI and Anthropic.

The launch follows Meta’s introduction of its Muse personal AI assistant. It offers a fresh indication that the company’s substantial investment in AI may be producing results, though investors have questioned the scale of its spending.

Meta says the family includes Muse Wonder, a smaller model intended for quick everyday tasks, and Wonder Full, a larger, more capable option.

The models were developed under the internal name Watermelon, according to a person familiar with the project. The company has not provided further details here on availability or performance comparisons.

Key points

  • Meta says Muse Wonder matches models from OpenAI and Anthropic.
