Trump launches new investigation into Fed Gov. Lisa Cook
President Donald Trump has directed a committee to investigate mortgage fraud allegations involving Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, according to ABC News. Cook denies the allegations.
The committee is scheduled to hold a closed-door hearing at the White House next month. Trump’s memo says Cook should attend and be questioned by the panel, its representatives and her legal counsel, if she has one.
The panel is to submit written findings and conclusions to Trump and recommend whether there is cause to remove Cook. Its members are economic adviser Kevin Hassett, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Chair Andrea Lucas and acting Office of Government Ethics Director Keith Sonderling.
