Documentary centres on weeks leading up to Holmes's incarceration following 2022 Theranos fraud conviction

If you were wondering what possible antics Nathan Fielder has been up to after watching the latest season of The Rehearsal, we have your answer.

The Vancouver-born comedian, writer and director released a teaser late Sunday for his next project, a documentary about Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes who was famously convicted of fraud in 2022 after her company claimed to have created a type of blood testing that could screen for hundreds of diseases with small amounts of blood.

Fielder's film, titled You Can See Everything, was made with documentarian and filmmaker Lance Oppenheim and centres on the weeks leading up to Holmes's incarceration in 2023.

Oppenheim's previous works include Spermworld (2024), an FX-produced doc about sperm donors and Some Kind of Heaven (2020) about a Florida retirement community.

Fielder grew to fame with Nathan For You, a series on Comedy Central in which he gives horrible business advice to entrepreneurs. Previously he won (and baffled) Canadian hearts and minds with his appearances on CBC's This Hour Has 22 Minutes, in field segments titled "Nathan On Your Side" in 2008 and 2009.

You Can See Everything is being distributed by Gen Z favourite A24. The trailer features the company's signature high-saturation colour grading and overall eeriness.

It includes a roughly-one minute close-up conversation between Holmes and Fielder. The two intensely gaze at each other, as Holmes says, "Why would I deceive you? There's no — there's no reason for me to do that."

A long-ish silence follows and Fielder — with an incredulous expression on his face — says, "You're being real right now?"

The trailer was released in conjunction with a surprise screening Sunday at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado. Reviews haven't yet surfaced from the screening, several critics posted their superlative-filled reactions to social media.

Film director Daniel Howat wrote on X after the screening that You Can See Everything "is maybe the most hysterical, shocking, insane documentary I’ve ever seen. Endlessly thought-provoking ... A work of genius."
